HOPEX-Highway Guardrail
The quality of a guardrail panel is decided before the strip enters the first station: by the material it is made from and the tooling that shapes it. This page explains how the steel guardrail profile machine is matched to both.
| Material | Behaviour in forming | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| Q235 carbon steel | Standard yield, forms readily | General road projects |
| Galvanized steel | Coating preserved by gradual bending | Highways and national roads |
| Stainless steel | Higher springback, handled by station count | Coastal, high-corrosion sites |
| Zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy | Abrasive coating, needs hard blades | Long-life barrier programs |
Forming thickness runs 2.4 – 4.0 mm at a standard feeding width of 720 mm, with no tooling change between these material groups.

Rollers are sized for continuous duty and mounted on 120 mm shafts, so alignment holds under the side loads of forming 4.0 mm strip across 15–18 stations.
The cutting unit uses Cr12 blades quenched to HRC 58–62. That hardness range is chosen so the edge keeps its geometry on galvanized and alloy strip, where abrasive coatings quickly dull a softer blade.

Q1. Can the feeding width be changed?
Yes. 720 mm is standard, and feeding width is a listed customization option configured before production.
Q2. How long do the blades last?
Blade life depends on material and volume. The HRC 58–62 hardness is specified so that changes stay infrequent even on coated strip.
