HOPEX-Solar Strut Channel
This solar strut channel forming machine runs four feeding widths. Choosing between them is a structural decision, not a preference. This page explains how to select.
| Feeding width | Section character | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| 135 mm | Compact, lightest of the four | Secondary bracing, short spans, service supports |
| 157 mm | General purpose | Standard solar mounting rails and purlins |
| 177 mm | Increased section depth | Longer spans, heavier bracing runs |
| 197 mm | Largest section | Primary structural members, main seismic braces |

Span drives required section modulus. Selecting 135 mm because it uses less steel is a false economy if the span then requires additional intermediate supports.
Thickness across all four widths is 1.5 – 2.5 mm. A wide section in thin material is not equivalent to a narrow section in thick material; the wide thin section is more prone to local buckling at the flange.
Bolt patterns and fitting compatibility often decide width before structural calculation does. Confirm the fittings your market uses before finalising the section.

All four widths are produced on the same mill running at 10 – 15 m/min. Changeover is a tooling and setting operation rather than a change of machine, so a fabricator can serve mixed orders from one line.

Q1. Can all four widths really run on one machine?
Yes. 135 mm, 157 mm, 177 mm and 197 mm are all produced on this mill.
Q2. Does a wider section always mean stronger?
Not by itself. Thickness stays at 1.5 – 2.5 mm across the range, so a wider thin section can be more prone to local flange buckling.
Q3. Which width is most commonly ordered for solar mounting?
157 mm and 177 mm cover most standard mounting rail and bracing applications.
Q4. How fast does the line run?
10 – 15 m/min roll forming speed.
Q5. Can tooling be made for a width outside these four?
Yes, through drawing-based or full customisation.
Q6. What is the shipping package size and weight?
2600 × 300 × 200 cm, 20000 kg.
